The Moscow Dance Theater "Gzhel" will perform at the opening ceremony of the World Folkloriada
The Moscow State Academic Dance Theater "Gzhel" will take part in the VI World Folkloriada CIOFF®️. A group of world-class dancers will perform at the opening ceremony of the festival on July 3 at the Ufa-Arena Ice Palace.
The Gzhel dance theater has become a cultural landmark of Moscow long ago. The artists tell the audience about the old Russian tradition of painting, revealing in motion its spirit and beauty in the language of dance. The guests of the folklore festival will be able to see how the creations of folk craftsmen such as Gzhel, Palekh, Zhostovo, and Pavlovo Posad patterns come to life on the stage.
The team is headed by the Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation Marina Kuklina, the chief choreographer is the Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation, laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation Valentina Slykhanova.
The Moscow State Academic Dance Theater "Gzhel" was founded in 1988 by the famous choreographer, People's Artist of Russia, Professor Vladimir Zakharov for the 650th anniversary of the existence of one of the most recognizable primordially Russian crafts - gzhel. In 1993 the theater became state-owned, and in 1999 it received an academic status.
Cultural material, folk motives, and images collected by Vladimir Zakharov throughout Russia formed the basis of many dances and song and dance pictures.
The VI World Folkloriada CIOFF®️ will be held from 3 to 10 July 2021 in the Republic of Bashkortostan.
The opening ceremony will take place in Ufa at the Ufa-Arena Ice Palace on July 3, 2021.
