The Republic of North Macedonia is a "land of mountains and lakes". This state is located in southeastern Europe on the Balkan Peninsula. On the territory of this state there are more mountains than in any country in the world. Despite this, its nature is very diverse. This state is famous for its national parks and reserves, which are designed to preserve numerous species of animals and plants living on their territory.
There are many beautiful lakes scattered like pearls. The oldest of them and one of the deepest in Europe is Lake Ohrid, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Northern Macedonia is famous for its unique architectural monuments of antiquity and the Middle Ages. Many of these beautiful old sights are located in its capital, Skopje. This amazing country has a rich historical and cultural heritage. Its inhabitants are closely connected with their traditions, which have been transmitted for centuries from one generation to another.
At the VI CIOFF® World Folkloriada the Republic of North Macedonia will be presented by the «Ilinden» Folk Dance Ensemble. It was founded in the city of Bitola in 1955 with the aim of studying and reviving Macedonian folk traditions.
