“Bicentenario” Folk Group

Peru is a country of ancient culture, incredible beauty and adventure. The Republic of Peru is a state in South America with one of the most ancient histories on the planet. There is a huge number of different historical and natural monuments. Some of them are listed in the Guinness Book of Records, while others are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

One of the most important sights of Peru is Machu Picchu – an ancient Inca city founded several hundred thousand years ago. This amazing monument of antiquity is officially recognized as a wonder of the world.

The nature of the country is extremely diverse and contrasting. Next to the Pacific Ocean rise the giant Andes mountains, fertile valleys are adjacent to snow-capped mountains, near deserts are the endless forests of the Amazon. Peru has the highest mountain lake on earth and one of the deepest canyons on the planet, in addition, it has the most full-water river in the world. All this makes Peru one of the most unique states in South America.

At the VI CIOFF® World Folkloriada this unique and mysterious country, where incredible cultural and historical traditions are concentrated, will be presented by the “Bicentenario” Folk Group. Its performances are aimed at preserving and popularizing the musical and dance folklore traditions of the peoples living in Peru.
